ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

Statement on Accessibility

We strive to make our website accessible in accordance with the Federal Act on Accessibility Requirements for Products and Services (Accessibility Act – BaFG).

This accessibility statement applies to the website www.ott.at of Weingut Bernhard Ott GmbH.

State of Compliance with the Requirements

This website is partially compliant with the conformity requirements of Section 4 (1) and (2) BaFG in conjunction with Annex 1 (Sections 1 and 2) to the BaFG. Extensive measures have been implemented to improve accessibility for all users. However, certain barriers currently remain, which are explained in more detail below.

Non-accessible Content

The content and elements listed below are not fully accessible for the following reasons:

  1. Identical Link Texts with Different Destinations
In certain areas of the website (e.g. post overviews), identical link texts such as “Read more” are repeatedly used, leading to different destination pages. This structure results from the automated output of posts in grid or list views. Since the links are embedded in a clear contextual framework (e.g. title, image or description of the respective post), orientation for users is maintained. The WCAG recommendation regarding the distinguishability of link texts is deliberately weighed against usability considerations.
  2. Interactive Vineyard Map (Mapbox GL JS)
The vineyard map is based on the Mapbox GL JS library and is primarily rendered via a canvas element. As a result, semantic information is only partially available to screen readers. Full keyboard operability (dragging/moving, rotating/tilting, zooming, focus order of markers) may be limited depending on the assistive technology used.
We have labelled control elements (e.g. 2D/3D toggle, compass) and provided additional usage instructions. In addition, we provide a list view of the locations directly next to/below the map so that all content is accessible even without the interactive map.
In the future, we are reviewing additional alternatives (e.g. static map views, PDF/HTML overviews of the vineyard sites with detail pages) in order to make the information accessible independently of the map.

Preparation of the Accessibility Statement

This statement was prepared on 20 October 2025 and is based on a self-assessment as well as the use of automated testing tools (e.g. Google Lighthouse, WAVE, WCAG validator).
